NOXIOUS WEEDS

Sir, —Fennel and blackberry have spread to such an extent tha' it is almost impossible to maintain a garden in some localities, particularly in Northland, as far as my observation goes. Fennel is now going to seed and the roads and reserves are smoth« ered, yet the authorities do nothing and the Government is paying sustenance to men who would benefit by the work they would get.—l am, etc.,
