FUTURE EMPLOYMENT

MEN ON NO. 13 SCHEME

(Special to the "Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, This Day,

The future of men engaged on the No 13 scheme of subsidised work when the" Employment Promotion Fund ceases to exist after the introduction of the social security scheme en April 1 was explained yesterday by the Minister of Labour (the Hon. P. C. Webb). He said it was hoped that, with the expansion of industry throughout the country, numbers of relief workers would be found permanent employment. Mr. Webb stated that men who could not be placed in industry would be transferred to other work. They would be • engaged in afforestation and on land developmental schemes, and provision had already been made to absorb large numbers of single men from No. 13 scheme work. It was the Government's intention to see that work was provided for every man who was willing to work.
