BRITAIN'S POSITION
MORE FORMIDABLE GERMANY NOW
AVOIDING OF WAR
(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.)
(Received February 13, 10 a.m.)
LONDON, February 12. Sir lan Hamilton, addressing the British Legion, declared:— "We are following closely in the footsteps of 1914. As then, have so tied our hands that it is impossible honourably to approach any other ally than France. The next step was to place our armed forces at her disposal, resulting in General Joffre and Sir John French
wasting all our gun ammunition at Festubert and Loos when we were trying to carry out world strategy at the Dardanelles. Let us pray that this completes the parallel, because Herr Hitler and Field-Marshal Goering are far more formidable than the Kaiser and yon Moltke.
"We must hold up the first shot, whether it is of an umbrella, a bottle, or anything."
