GREAT FRENCH CLUB
A THOUSAND MARRIAGES
France's great marriage . club, the Green Border, claims t6 have made more than a thousand marriages since it was founded in 1922. The aim and object of this club is to get as many young couples as possible married every year, states the "Sydney Morning Herald."
The annual subscription is quite a modest one, and qualification for membership is the desire for a wife or husband.
s New members of this club are requested to fill in a form giving details, physical and financial, and on acceptance they are given a number, for until the engagement of a couple is officially made known no names are revealed.
People who are likely to suit each other are introduced at the monthly meeting or dance of the members, and when any two young persons decide that they would like to become further acquainted they set about it according to the rules—not heading for the "talkies" or arranging a private picnic, but by going to the president of the society and studying each other's official record.
The club doctor then examines them, their civil records are studied, and compared, and after that they are at liberty to get along with the matter in the more usual way.
