MARRIAGE IN WESTMINSTER ABBEY

(By Air Mail, from "The Post's" London Representative.) LONDON, January 9. Henry Vll's Chapel, within Westminster Abbey, was .filled with guests for the wedding of the Hon. Alexander Hardinge Patrick Hore-Ruthven, only son and heir of Lord Gowrie. , Governox'-General of Australia, and ' Lady Gowrie, to Miss Pamela Margaret , Fletcher, second daughter of the Rev. A. H. and Mrs. Fletcher, of 87 Cado- ; gan Gardens, London. • Many guests had to be content with ' seats iti: the Dean's Cloisters approaching the Chapel, as well as in the nave 'of the Abbey. The bride's father offi- " ciated, assisted by Canon Marriott and ' the Rev. A. R. Fuller. Brigadier W. T. Hodgson gave his ' niece away, and the bride wore a picture gown in ivory georgette brocaded in gold with a feather design. The bodice had long sleeves and a square neckline, while the train was cut in one with the skirt, broadening into a square train. With her short circu- . lar veil of ivory tulle, edged with a , gold thread, the bride wore a triple band of plaited gold galon. Her hou-i ; quet was of Christmas roses, and a sprig, of" orange blossom sent from ; Italy. ITALIAN STYLE DRESS. One bridesmaid, who acted as trainbearer, was the bridegroom's cousin and godchild, Miss Sally Hore-Ruthven (seen in the photograph). She wore a long frock in the Italian style of the sixteenth century, of crimson vei-

vet, the front panel braided in gold lacings. Sleeves were puffed at the shoulders, and the short bodice trimmed with gold braid. Her small cap was of the same gold braid.-and her two fair plaits were allowed to fall over her shoulders. ~

Guests afterwai'ds attended the reception held by Mrs. Fletcher at 4g Prince's Gate,, the residence of the bride's godparents, Lieutenant-Colonel and Mrs. Graham Rees-Mogg. The honeymoon will be spent in the country until later in the month, when the bride and bridegroom will go to Australia to visit Lord and Lady Gowrie.
