MAORIS' GRATITUDE

A beautifully-carved paddle was presented to Professor James _ iShelley, Director of Broadcasting, by members of the Wanganui Maori Party at the conclusion of their broadcast from 2YA on Monday night. On behalf of the party the manager, Mr. O. Kitson, ex r pressed sincere appreciation \tp_ Prof;es.i. sor Shelley for the hospitality they had received from the broadcasting authorities. He paid a tribute to tjhestaff of 2YA, and said they had done everything possible to make the party's visit a happy one. After Mr. Mete Kingi had made the presentation, Professor Shelley was accorded musical honours in Maori.
