FORTNIGHT'S GAOL
INTOXICATED MOTORIST

NAPIER, This Day.
Fourteen days' imprisonment was imposed by Mr. J. Miller, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court on Alick McMillan, commercial traveller, Hastings, aged 36, on a charge of intoxication while in charge of a car. "Six weeks ago I issued a warning that I would have to consider imprisonment -in some of these cases," said the Magistrate. "Taken on its own this case is not a bad one, but this man has been before the Court twice on these charges and •once for dangerous driving.""The previous convictions should have been ample warning."
The defendant was prohibited from obtaining a licence for a year.
A remand until Monday next was granted Sydney O'Donnell Marriott, a butcher, who appeared before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrafe's Court today charged with being intoxicated in charge of a motor-car in Barker Street on January 21, and also with failing to stop after an . accident. Hail was allowed.
A remand for one week was granted Kuki Karena, a labourer, aged 22, who appeared before Mr. J.< L. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today charged with obtaining credit by fraud. I
