Hail Shield competition matches were continued on Saturday. The match, Weraroa v. Levin, played on the Weraroa Recreation Ground, had ari important beating on the competition. A win for Weraroa would still keep them in the running for the championship, while a victory for Levin would place them in an unassailable position. Weraroa had first strike, compiling 128 (M. Wright 30, Mellor 28, Read. 22). Levin passed this Score before their fourth wicket fell, the call of time showing eight wickets down, for 193 (R. Bell 104 not out, K. Hudson 29, R> Mellings 18). K. Hudson was the most successful bowler for Levin, accounting for six wickets for 51 tuns. Hood took three for 29 for Weraroa. \ This is the second Saturday in succession that Bell, who is not yet 19, has scored a century unbeaten* In eleven visits to the wickets this season he has scored 583 runs, four times not out, giving him an average Of 83.3. He has also taken 40 wickets, his best performance being seven for 26 rum against Te Horo. Bell is also first-class field. Levin Old Boys met Te Horo on the Levitt Park Domain. Te Horo 174 <W. Barber 52, Roffe S5, Garrity 28). Levin Old Boys 53 (P. Meddinks 22K Rolfe and Barber shared the wickets for Te Horo. H. Baumber vwas the most successful bowler for Old Boys. Shannon played Parafcaraumu at Shannon, Shannon scoring 183 and Paraparaumu 139.
