Hail Shield competition matches were continued on Saturday. The match, Weraroa v. Levin, played on the Weraroa Recreation Ground, had ari important beating on the competition. A win for Weraroa would still keep them in the running for the championship, while a victory for Levin would place them in an unassailable position. Weraroa had first strike, compiling 128 (M. Wright 30, Mellor 28, Read. 22). Levin passed this Score before their fourth wicket fell, the call of time showing eight wickets down, for 193 (R. Bell 104 not out, K. Hudson 29, R> Mellings 18). K. Hudson was the most successful bowler for Levin, accounting for six wickets for 51 tuns.
