EDICT TO SERVANTS
"GO BACK TO GERMANY"
German and Austrian/ women and girls working as domestic servants in England are being advised to return to Germany at the earliest opportunity, states the "Daily Telegraph." The reason given for these instructions is that it is becoming more difficult for German families to obtain servants
At the German Consulate in London recently it was stated that as girls working in England present themselves to make inquiries of any, kind they will be told to get back to Germany as soon as convenient, although it is not the intention of the authorities to impose a strict time limit.
About 10,000 women and girls are affected by the order, and a large proportion of them are of Austrian nationality, but will be expected to conform to the German authority's decision. Most of the girls are registered in the couth of England, and German authorities are in constant touch with them through official channels. During the year -ended March 31 last permits given to English employers to engage foreign domestic servants included over 7000 for Austrians and 1267 for Germans.
