BIG SCRUB FIRE

WHANGAREI, This Day.
Fire threatened the Puketi State forest, adjoining Mangamuka, yesterday. An "outbreak in scrub and gorse, fanned by a high wind, swept towards the edge of the bush, but forestry officers and others prevented the fire spreading. Five hundred acres of gorse and scrub were burnt.
