ADEN CENTENNIAL
MESSAGE FROM THE KING

RUGBY, January 19.
The Aden centennial / celebrations reached a climax today, which was the hundredth anniversary of the hoisting of the British flag, when the Governor, Sir Bernard Reilly, at a centennial parade, read congratulatory messages from the King and Mr, Malcolm. MacDonald, Colonial Secretary. The King's message stated: "The history of Aden is bound up with the seafaring traditions of which the British Empire is so justly proud- Though the youngest of the colonies, Aden has for many years past formed an essential link in the maritime communications of the Empire, and today her people are celebrating the centennial of loyal and devoted service to the British Crown. I look forward with confidence not only to the maintenance of past traditions but also to the continued development of the colony and the increasing prosperity of its inhabitants."
