Temperatures have continued cold in the south, but have been warm east of the ranges and moderate elsewhere. > . A tropical storm near Fiji has moved only slightly, but has become very intense and now covers a very wide area, affecting weather conditions as far distant as the Kermadecs (about 1000 miles). Although no rain fell in the city the weather in Auckland yesterday was cloudy to overcast, and there were showers in the vicinity. There has been a continuance of light southwesterly winds, and the weather this morning was cloudy. The maximum temperature was 68.4 degrees, and the minimum 55 degrees. Yesterday at Wellington was bright and sunny. A strong north-westerly wind was blowing, but it had decreased to a light breeze by this morning -when the sky was overcast. The. maximum temperature was 63.8 degrees, and the minimum 63.1 degrees. There were 12.4 hours of sunshine.

In Christchurch the day was warm and sunny with little cloud until the evening. A moderate westerly wind veered to a light easterly by midday and freshened during the afternoon. This morning skies were cloudy with a moderate north-easterly blowing. The maximum temperature was 73.3 degrees, and the minimum 46.4 degrees. Dunedin had cloudy weather with intermittent sunshine and a continuance of fresh to strong south-westerly winds, This morning was cloudy, the wind still being from the south-west, but only moderate in force.
