From 15 to 20 athletes, including some juniors and probably also Miss K. Callinan, national women's sprint champion, are expected to comprise the Canterbury team to meet Wellington in the interprovincial contest at the Basin Reserve next Saturday afternoon. To make possible a good team being available, the Wellington Centre is assisting Canterbury in transport costs.

However, frbm the athletes who are available, Mr. R. Bradwell (New Zealand 220 yards hurdles champion and runner-up to Bowie last season in 120 yards hurdles), D. Herman (New Zealand shot put champion), and H. W. Wiltons (New Zealand broad jump champion). Wilkins is reported to be in good form, jumping over 22ft. in the long jump, and Bradwell last Saturday returned 15 3-ssec for the 120 yards hurdles.

According /to Mr. Beattie, Canterbury has a'particularly good junior in Shaw, who runs the mile in about 4min 32sec. Christensen is another junior of whom he makes special men. tion. Christensen is a half-miler and miler, and is also a good performer in the long jump and hop, step and jump.

The following events have been suggested by the Wellington Centre as those to comprise the competition between the two centres. —Senior: 100 yards, 220 yards, 440 yards, 880 yards, one and three miles, 120 yards, 220 yards, and 440 yards hurdles, broad jump and hop, step and jump,' pole vault, shot, discus, and high jump. Junior: 100 yards, 220 yards, 440 yards,

880 yards, one mile, broad jump, and hop, step and jump. Women: 75 yards and 100 yards.

In addition, there will be a number of open handicap events. Entries are to close at James Smith's at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

To give added variety to the programme, members of local surf clubs have been invited to take part in a marching competition. There is to be a display by a squad of Territorial reservists from Trentham Camp, a parade of the competing athletes, and. a weight-lifting contest.
