THE terrible fires raging in Australia and New Zealand call for our thoughtful consideration. We have previously said that these things are allowed by a God of Love, to warn sinners to flee from the terrible judgments that are soon going to sweep this world. At present these things are tempered with mercy, but soon for the lost and perishing there will be no mercy. That the world today is ripening for judgment must be very apparent to those who stop to think. The mad race for armaments, the mad rush for pleasure, the false teaching and damnable heresies, the modernism in the so-called Christian Churches, all tell that judgment is near. We noticed a beautiful illustration of the Gospel, as told in an incident in "The Post." One who escaped says, "I found a drum of water in which some I blankets were 6oaking. I wrapped these round myself and rushed to a burnt-out desiring through which the flames had passed." The only safe place was where the fire had passed. Dear reader, the modernist may belittle the work of Calvary, but it is God's only way of saving the guilty, hell-deserving sinner. In Rom. 5:6 we read that "Christ died for the ungodly" On the cross He cried, "It is finished," John 19:30. Sinner, if you will claim the promise of God, wrap. yourself in it, as it were, and trust in that atoning work; you will be saved for time and eternity. If we can help you please write F. J. Cross. 44 Rakau Road, E2. NGAIO TOWN HALL. The Gospel Services for 1939 will be recommenced on Sunday next at 7 p.m., and we give a hearty invitation to old and new friends to be present.
