BROTHERS IN DIFFICULTIES

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.

Stanley Oswald Topp, aged 26, farm manager, of Amesbury Road, Saltwater Creek, was drowned in the Ashley River about 7.30 p.m. yesterday. Topp, with his three sisters and a brother and some friends, intended bathing in a pool about 15 feet deep. His brother, Arthur Topp, went in and got into difficulties and the rest of ihe party went to his assistance, but did not notice that Stanley Topp was also in difficulties. When Arthur Topp had been rescued by Miss Walshe, of Wellington, and her brother it was found that Stanley Topp was missing. His body was later recovered.
