SUBURBAN SALEYARDS
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —On my election to the Johnsonville Town Board at the last local elections, one of my first acts was to press for some action in regard to the local saleyards. I consider that now this township is served with a most efficient train service, and the Government is rapidly building houses, and the population is increasing, these cattle yards are becoming more unsightly in contrast to the new homes and a menace to those people living, nearby.
I cannot understand Mr. Lawrence's statement where he said the Town Board is in close touch with the company, as nothing has been reported to the board. I should like to ask the chairman (Mr. Lawrence) why the owners should be exempt from abiding by the bylaws because they pay rates and other dues. I am sure the people of Johnsonville do not want to be antagonistic, as they have shown that by waiting so many years for the board to take action.—l am, etc.,
W. R. FISHER, Member Johnsonville Town Board,
