ROTORUA, January 10
For the first time since February, 1936. the famous Pohutu Geyser, which years ago was the outstanding attraction of the Rotorua district, renewed activity yesterday morning and throughout the day gave several spectacular displays, which thrilled a large number of visitors to the reserve, reports the Rotorua correspondent of the "New Zealand Herald."
The first display was given shortly after daybreak, being heralded by the usual display of the Prince of Wales Feathers and reaching to a height of over 100 feet.
Almost hourly shots of slightly less height occurred until 9 a.m., after which the geyser was quiescent until 11 a.m.. when further displays were given, the average height of these shots being 60 feet. The geyser continued to play continuously from midday until 5 p.m.
