The men's and women's plate events 'were advanced a further stage when the New Zealand lawn tennis championships were continued at Wilding Park today. Two'« quarter-final matches in the men's championship singles were set down for this afternoon, and progress was also made with the doubles championships. The weather was again warm with a north-easterly breeze when play began. Results are:— MIXED DOUBLES. Second Round. C. F. Penfold and Miss T. Rice beat X H. Renouf and Miss G. Forrester, 3-6, 6-3, 5-3. Renouf retired. MEN'S PLATE. First Round. C. Robertson beat D. Livingstone, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. I, Corich >beat Sharpe, 6-4, 6-2. Second Round. R. Ferkins beat Kelly, 6-2. 6-1. Falconer beat R. J. Donkin, 6-1, 6-8, 6-3. Morrison beat Beatson, 6-3, 6-3. '"" Robertson beat Penfold, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. Quarter-finals. Roussell beat Renouf by default. R. Ferkins beat Falconer, 6-3, 6-1. WOMEN'S PLATE. Second Round. Miss Douthett beat Miss C. Chester, 6-0, 6-1. 1 Miss N. Beverley beat Miss Bedford, 6-1, 6-2. Miss P. Cooke beat Miss Glenny, 6-1, 6-4.-
