CASE OF MEASLES
250 BOYS TO BE ISOLATED
(Received December 23, 12.10 p.m.)
SYDNEY, This Day. Because one of the New Zealand Scouts aboard the Awatea contracted measles during the voyage the entire contingent of about 250 will probably be isolated at Bradfield camp for 14 days. The outbreak was discovered yesterday morning during a medical inspection aboard the ship. The sufferer and two of his mates who have been in contact with him were immediately placed in isolation and the rest of the contingent were examined again but appeared to be free from infection. The Scouts' medical officer, Dr. Moseley, said that the only thing to do was to isolate the entire contingent. The sick boy and his two mates would be admitted to hospital in Sydney. The Scouts' leader, Mr. J. Cooksey, said: "We will not be very greatly affected by the outbreak, except that our own personal camp will be isolated from the rest at Bradfield."
