SPECIAL TRAIN

Although lit is not anticipated that the railway line between Napier and Wairoa, which was damaged in the April floods, will be open for passenger traffic for at least six months, arrangements were made by the Railway Department yesterday to run a special passenger tr.ain from Waikokopu to Wellington for the benefit of Public Works Department employees who have finished work for the Christmas holidays.

Because of the state of the line a veryslow schedule had to be adhered to between Waikokopu and Napier. The train left Waikokopu at 6.30 p.m. yesterday, Wairoa at 7.45 p.m., and arrived at Wellington shortly after 9 a.m. today.
