LADY'S NARROW ESCAPE

LONDON, December 22.

Lady Anderson, wife of Sir Alan Anderson, M.P., escaped from a firo at Notgrove Manor, in the Cotswbld,' by lowering herself down from a window with knotted sheets. A maid ran through a snowstorm and gave the alarm. The fire engine became stuck three times in snowdrifts.

The house, which for centuries wag the home of Dick Whittington's de» scendants, was severely damaged.
