LAND TAKEN

COMPENSATION AWARDED

A Compensation Court consisting of Mr. Justice Quilliam and Messrs. J. M. Dale and C. J. S. Harcourt this afternoon awarded £600 to the Frances Rossiter Macdonald estate as compensation for the taking by the Wellington City Corporation of 14.26 perches of land at the crossing of Clifton and Everton, Terraces for street and street widening purposes. The claim by the Public Trustee was for £800 for the land taken and £400 for alleged injurious affection of the remaining property. The sum awarded by the Court embraced both claims.

Mr. D. R. Wood appeared for the Public Trustee and Mr. J. O'Shea, with him Mr. J. R. Marshall, for the Corporation.
