TRANSFUSION SERVICE

Since February 1, 1938, the Wellington branch of the National * Blood Transfusion Service has provided 227 donors, service being given to public and private hospital cases and individua v cases treated at home. The total membership of the branch is now 251, 187 males and 64 females. There have been a number of resignations on transfers during the year, but these have been replaced by new members.

Transfusion services have been established in New Zealand, for some years and new branches have been formed at Palmerston North. Wanganui, New Plymouth, Stratford, and Napier during the past year. Many lives have been saved by the service, including a baby aged only three days. Many expressions of appreciation have been received by the service -from doctors and others.
