OBITUARY

MR. J. A. RHODES

Mr. John A. Rhodes, 22 Alberton Avenue, Mount Albert, Auckland, a well-known figure in the New Zealand timber industry, died recently in Auckland. Immediately after leaving school he joined up with the Auckland Timber Co., conducted by the late Mr. Geo. Holdship, and was still in his early twenties when he was appointed to the managership of the Kauri Timber Co. (Mangonui-Hokianga-Whanga-roa combined districts). He subsequently joined the New Zealand Railway Service, and was appointed to the position of manager of the Mamaku Government Timber Mill. On his retirement in 1923 he lived at Rotorua and later at Mount Albert.

Mr. Rhodes is survived by his widow, one son, and two grandchildren.
