THREE IDLE DAYS
LIVERPOOL COLLIERY
(Special to the "Evening Post") . GREYMOUTH, November 30.
The usual practice, in conformity with the regulations, of entering their findings in a book,at the mine mouth was not carried out by the examining deputies at the* Liverpool Colliery at'Rewahui this The result was that the mine remained idle, the men returning home.
When there was no report available as to whether the mine was safe or 'not, this was sought from the examining deputies, but, it is stated, was refused. It is suggested that this action was due to the fact that the examining deputies? certificate that the mine was safe on Monday and Tuesday was not recognised by members of the State Miners' Union.
The mine will resume work tomorrow after three days' idleness, the two previous days on account of what the men considered undue heating in the sealed-off, the Morgan West level, where a fire occurred in August and upon which it was mutually agreed to place a further clay stopping. A definite assurance has been given the management by the examining deputies that reports. will be made available tomorrow.
