INCREASE IN DUNEDIN

DUNEDIN, November 30.

A substantial increase in the total revenue collected at the Dunedin Customs office during the month ended today is disclosed when a comparison is made -with the figures for November of last year. This year the total lor the month was £148,234, which is an increase of £8208 over the amount collected during November, 19?7.

Following are the figures for November, together with those for the corresponding month of last year (shillings and pence omitted): —

November, ' 1938. Customs duty, £71,564, November, 1937, £64,370; beer duty, £30,194, £33,960; sales tax, £26,240, £25,730; petrol tax, £17,201, £16,681; gold tax, £1820, £1427; tyre tax; £754, £543; total .revenue collected {including various minor items), £148,234, £140,026.
