Dr. Alexander Gillies (president of the Wellington Centre), Mrs. Laurenson (president of the Hataitai Sub-centre), and Captain Galloway (secretary, Wellington Centre) addressed the gathering on the society's work, indicating the direction in which a sub-centre at Seatoun could co-oper-ate.
The following committee was elected: —President* Mrs. D. Whitaker; vice-presidents, Mesdames H. B. Ewen, A. E. Chudley, and Dr. Bayldon Ewen; secretary and treasurer, Miss Averill Nicholl; executive, Mesdames . Oliver, Cross, Lindsay, Pollock, Watson, Collins, Masterson, and Fordham, with power to add.
As an initial effort to raise funds in furtherance of the work the committee decided to lend its aid in connection with the forthcoming Red Cross Day by disposing of Red Cross emblems in the district. The proceeds raised to be retained by the sub-centre.
