UNITED KINGDOM MANUFACTURERS
Satisfaction with. the past year's activities was expressed by Mr. David Hogg, the president, at the annual; meeting of the United Kingdom Manufacturers' and New Zealand Representatives' Association (Inc.) yesterday afternoon. The membership of 270, said Mr. Hogg, was the highest in the association's history, and this, he suggested, was an acknowledgment of the added interest in the association, both locally and overseas, and an indication of the fact'that the association was doing good work, in the interests of trade between the United Kingdom and the Dominion. Several other topics dealt with by Mr. Hogg are reported under separate headings. >. • . The following council was elected: — • Electrical, Messrs. S. Cory Wright and W. Simpson; hardware, Messrs. E. A. Christie, A. L. Wall, and S. Burnell Browne; machinery, Mr. H. P. Wrigley; motor vehicles, Mr. A. W. Hawley; motor accessories, Messrs. C. J. Ralph and Philip Proctor; motor-cycles and cycles, Mr. J. Sadler; paper and printers' requisites, Messrs. H. J. Tubbs and G. Hazlewpod; drapery, Mr. D. Hogg; textiles, Messrs. C. W. Budd, J. Matthews, R. J. Booth, and G. Wright; groceries and provisions, Mr. V._ L. Palmer; confectionery. Mr. A. J Rigg; fancy goods, Mr. H. S Hart; chemicals, paints, and oils. Mr. G W Guthrie; leather. Mr. L H Wood; footwear, Messrs. H C. Murray and E. P. Pearce. Messrs. Henry Kember and Son were reappointed the association's auditors. Tribute was paid to the work of the secretary, Mr. N. H. Russell. The annual report and balance-sheet, a summary of which has appeared in "The Post," were adopted. Three firms were elected to membership.
