HIDES AND SKINS PRICES

Good catalogues of hides and sheepskins were submitted by Wellington brokers yesterday at the fortnightly auction sales. A fully representative bench of buyers was in attendance. Excepting for, coarse full-woolled skins, which were on about a par with last sale, sheepskins declined by Jd to id per lb. Light calfskins wev; a shade better than last sale, but all other grades of hides declined. Ox hides were easier by id for heavies, ranging to §d for light weights. Cow hides were down by £d for light, 5-8 d for medium, to Jd for heavies. Yearlings were £d to id below last sale. The range of prices is as follows:— Dry Sheepskins.—Halfbred, s&d to B£d; fine crossbred, 4£d to B|d; medium, s|d to B|d; coarse, sgd to B%d; half wools, ssd to B£d; quarter wools, 4£d to 6Jd; pelts, 2d to 3|d. Salted skins; Pelts, Is to Is 3d each. Hides: Ox, 331b to 441b, 4d to 5Jd; 451b to 521b, 4 l-8d to 5 7-8 d; 531b to 591b, 4d to 6 7-8 d; 601b to 691b, 4d to 6fd; 701b and over, 3 7-8 dto 6%d. Cow: 331b to 391b. 3 3-8 d to sfd; 401b and 481b, 3 l-8d to 5 l-8d; 491b and over, 3 3-8 dto sd. Kip: 251b to 321b, 3|d to sid. Yearling: 111b to 161b: 4 5-8 dto 7.7-Bd. Calf: 91b to 101b, 8 l-8d; 61b to 81b 6Jd to 8 l-8d; lib to 51b, s£d to lid. Tallow: In casks, etc., 12s 6d to 15s 3d a cwt; in tins, 7s. Sundries: Cow tails, 6d a dozen; horse hair, 15s a lb.
