UNLIKELY STARTERS
(Special to the "Evening Post.")
TAKANINI, This Day
High Sea, who has been rehandicapped 171b for his Te Rapa successes, is an unlikely starter at Ellerslie tomorrow. Poker Dice, who broke down after galloping on Tuesday morning, will be an absentee from the Takapuna Plate field, and in the same event Brazilian will not be a runner. Although they have not been scratched yet, E. Pope stated yesterday morning that neither Palustre nor Romani would race tomorrow.
Sir Robin and Miss Brierly have been scratched for all at the meeting.
Additional riding engagements announced for the Auckland Meeting are: —W. Bartle, Round Up, Venture; S. Tremain, Rajanya, Chelandry, Love in Idleness, Bronze Emerald; H. N. Wiggins. Oriental Bay; W. Thomson, Birthday Boy; G. Gilchrist, Odtaa, Leo Colossus; A. C. Messervy, Shy, Hot Shot; L. H. Clifford, Pleuron, Silver Eagle, Glen Connel; G. Smith, Proud Fox, Gay Opal, Bon Star.
