Mrs. Elizabeth Faff, of New York, wrote to radio station WYNC and said that "The Star Spangled Banner" was broadcast while she and her husband were in bed listening to the radio, says the "Chicago Tribune." Her husband got up and made her stand, too She asked whether such formality was
necessary. Her letter was sent to Mayor
Fio'rello H. La Guardia for an official ..opinion. He has written to Mrs. Faff ahd said he had taken it up with Secretary of War Woodring and that Woodring said it was not necessary to get out of bed and stand for the national anthem.
