A UNITED FRONT
OPPOSITION PLANS
TO DEFEAT CHAMBERLAIN
LABOUR'S ATTITUDE
(Independent Cable Service.)
LONDON, November 22,
Labour Party and Co-operative Society leaders will meet privately in London on November 23 to dis.cuss a campaign to overthrow the Government. The fact that the agenda for the meeting does not exclude consideration of policy for this purpose is one factor winch has given rise to reports of plans for the formation of a "National Opposition" (a united front of Liberals and Socialists with some Conservative dissidents and Independents), not only for the defeat of Mr. Chamberlain, but as an alternative Government.
Official Labour sources, however, deny that overtures have come from other quarters aiming at the defeat of the Government and declare that the present intention of the Labour Partyis to fight the next General Election as the only alternative Government.
