CHILDREN IN STREETS
(To the Editor.)
; Sir, —1 am very interested in "Mt. I Victoria's" and "Another Sufferer's" > letters regarding children playing in : the street Have the writers forgotten . -when they went through the bat and ball age? When they were young there were more large backyards to ,play in, also houses were not crowded so close together I think the kiddies play on the street because of the small play area at the back of their homes. Where are the play areas for children living in rooms or a fiat? I have a wee boy of three and I live in a flat, and I am sure if he was at the bat and ball age I .would be tempted to let him play in a by-street. What is needed is a large section handy to the different suburbs thickly populated with children. The play areas are useless, as they close so early, and now the evenings are lengthening kiddies need^ somewhere to play.—l am etc., RINTOUL STREET MOTHER.
