WELLINGTON ROSE SHOW.
From a horticultural point of view, the season for roses has opened well, for there is evidence in all well-kept gardens of an abundance of blooms in many beautiful shades. If the weather is fine between this and Wednesday the Wellington Horticultural Society's rose show, particulars of which are given in the advertising columns, should be a most successful one. In addition to the rose exhibits there will be many attractive trade displays and decorative work. A special feature in the rose show is the extensive provision made for those who wish to enter pansies and violas. At this show the suburban societies compete for the "Evening Post" Trophy, awarded to the society gaining the highest aggregate of points in all sections. The show is to be officially opened at 3 p.m. by the Mavnr. (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop).
