AUCKLAND, November 1 Approximately £200,000 will be the residue of the estate of the late Mrs Marianne Caughey Preston, MBE* This money,, together with a specific bequest of £20,000, is to be devoted to the establishment of a rest home for aged infirm and impecunious women irrespective of their religious beliefs' who have been unexpectedly reduced in their circumstances. With this gift is associated part of a residential property in Ponsonby.

An unexpected windfall comes to the Government. It is estimated that the trustees will be called upon to pay death duties of about £150,000. The estate is valued at £450,000. Bequests and legacies amount to about £90,000.
