CHRISTCHURCH, This Bay.

Mr. D. Barnes, the defeated Labour candidate for the Waitaki' seat, has lodged an application for a Magisterial recount of the votes;cast, in his electorate. At the election, Mr. Barnes, who held the Waitaki seat for the Government in the last Parliament, was unseated by the National candidate, Mr. D. C. Kidd, who obtained a majority of ten votes on the official count. This was a reduction of 52 votes' on the majority he received in the preliminary count.
