f CASE AS A WARNING c - <■ ■ ■ . Q Treating the case as a warning ~ against interference with other people's property, Mr. A. M. Gouldn ing, S.M., in the Lower Hutt 'Court today, dismissed charges against two young men of stealing 4s worth of ' r firewood from farm property at Hays wards. £ Mr. W. B. Rainey on their behalf admitted the commission of the offence, but pointed out that all it conj sisted of was the taking home of a sack and a half of old splintered wood y which had no commercial value. Sergeant J. W. McHolm said that [I the. youths were "decent young fellows" and that the case had been £ brought more as a warning to the public than for any other reason. c The Magistrate said he thought the c youths had acted as they did more v through foolishness than with, any mcc tention of committing theft. He dis- '* missed the charge on the understanding that* the owner of the wood be n reimbursed, and he acceded to coun*J sel's request that the names of the '* youths be suppressed.
