NOTES FROM THE RIVIERA
The summer season on the Riviera, probably one of the most brilliant on record, bids fair to continue throughout this month, comments the "Daily Telegraph" early in September. For the third year in succesison the Bal dcs Petits Lits Blancs—the most ; famous social function devoted to charity, and hitherto held at the Paris Opera—was arranged at Cannes. Attended by everyone, of note on the Riviera, the scene at Palm Beach Casino was picturesque in the extreme. ' Included in -the throng, of people present were the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, with whom were Lady Alexandra Metcalfe, Mrs; Evelyn Fitzgerald, Sir JValter Monckton,,and.Mr. and Mrs. F. Bate, the Grand Duke Dmitri, with his sister, the Grand.Duchess Marie of Russia, Princess Sixte de BourbonPanne, Princess deJLigne, Princess Ottoboni, Maharaja of Kapurthala, Colonel and.Mme. Jacques Balsan, I Baron and Baronne yon Seidlitz, Princess Galitzine, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jay Gould, Commander and Mrs. Louis (Beaumont, Mr. Gilbert Beale, Princess Pierre of Montenegro, M. and Mme. Henry Mouchet, Miss Grace Moore, Sir Victor Sassoon, and Lady Horlick.
