CHARGE AGAINST DRIVER

CHRISTCHURCH, October 26,

In the case against Harold Edward Bell, company director, the jury returned a verdicjb of not guilty on the charge of negligent driving causing injury and disagreed on the charge of failing to stop after an accident and render assistance to the persons injured. On the application of the acting Crown Prosecutor, Mr. J. D, Hutchison, a new trial was ordered by Mr. Justice Northcroft and tentatively set down for Monday. The accident occurred in Bealey Avenue. The persons injured were Ernest 'Keith Dickey, motor-cyclist, and Miss Williams, who occupied the pillion. The Crown admitted that Bell reported to the police station an hour ana a hatf after the accident.
