RECEPTION IN GERMANY

ABSENT FROM PAPERS

"GUNS AGAINST THE REICH"

(Received October 26, 1 p.m.)

BERLIN, October 25,

Lord Halifax's speech has been well received, specially his statement that peace does not come by waiting, which is interpreted as meaning that Britain will shortly make some positive move for better Anglo-German relations.

With the exception of the "Lokalanzeiger," the Press does not publish Lord Halifax's speech. The official news agency issued only an insipid version of a hundred words.

The "Lokalanzeiger" lauds Lord Halifax's warning to members of the Opposition against meddling in other people's internal affairs, and says their aim is guns against the Reich because they cannot cope with the life of the century.
