The colt is a "half-brother to Mr. Rank's St. Leger winner, Scottish Union, and was one of ten yearlings from the Sledmere Stud. Mr. W. Livock, who acted for Mr. Rank, was responsible for his buying Scottish Union at the sales in 1936. Miss Dorothy Paget, Captain Boyd Rochfort, and Mr. M. Peacock were all bidders for the Bahrain colt. A SON OF BAHRAM. "Everything had conspired to arouse exceptional interest in this colt," writes the "Daily Telegraph" correspondent from Doncaster. "He is the only Bahram yearling to be sold in his sire's first season, and his dam had bred a wonderful succession of winners, culminating in the triumph of the best of her sons in the St. Leger. It is singularly appropriate that the Bahram colt should have passed into the possession of the owner of the Scottish Union and Buoyant. Mr. Rank pointed out that he had done very well with Sledmere stock in the past, and he hoped the Bahram colt would carry on the good work."
