NO SURRENDER
NEW GUINEA MANDATE
AUSTRALIAN MINISTER'S STATEMENT
I (Received October 24, 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Suggestions that Australia should hand over Ne» Guinea to Germany could not be seriously entertained, said
the Minister of External Affairs, Mr. W. M. Hughes, in a broadcast address.
"Such a policy," he said, "would not only be suicidal but craven. The man* dated territory was granted to us in trust. We shall not relinquish our trust."
