HERETAUNGA CLUB
The Heretaunga Boating Club's 1938----39 season was officially declared open by the president, the Hon. Walter Nashy on Saturday afternoon, in the presence of a good attendance of members and yachtsmen. . After an appfof * priate speech, in which he club every success, Mr. Nash brioke out the club flag. .
Other speakers were Mr. J. W. Mo. Ewan, patron of the club; Mr. G. London^ Mayor of Petone;. and Mr. C. D A. Highet, representing the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club. They were introduced by Mr. R. Tegg, the club commodore. \ The club's fleet was-to have'paradeel in front of the clubhouse and saluted the commodore ona launch, but.the strong north-westerly wind caused ah abandonment of this event, though several of the centre-boarder crews showed their prowess off the beach.
