MOTHERS MEET

A PRESENTATION

The members of the Hataitai branch of the League of Mothers held a very bright and enjoyable social evening recently, the occasion being to make a presentation to Mrs. Peterson, the retiring president. Mrs. Hossiter (president), in handing the gifts to the guest of honour, thanked her on behalf of the league for her untiring efforts in furthering its interests. The presentation took the form of crystal goblets and jug. Mrs. Kossiter reminded all present of the wonderful work Mrs. Peterson had performed as an office bearer of the league. She had been two years secretary and three years president, and during that period had not been absent from a single committee or general meeting. Mrs. Peterson, in replying, wished the league a very happy and prosperous future. The following contributed to an excellent programme:—Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Davey, piano duets; Mrs. Ashwin, song; Mrs. Anderson, songs; Mrs. Mclntyre, elocutionary item. The Glee Club rendered two, delightful items. Games, competitions, and a dainty supper made the evening an enjoyable one.
