PALMERSTON NORTH SALE

Abraham and Williams, Ltd., Palmerston North, report on their monthly auction sale of wool, sheepskins, hides, and tallow, held last week:— A large catalogue was offered to a full bench of buyers and competition was keen for suitable lots. In the main values showed a slight increase on our sale 6f last month.

Wool values were on a par with last sale. For sheepskins there was an increase in values of fd to Id per lb. Cow hides were up id to Jd per lb, while ox hides were on a par, calfskins being up 3d to Id per lb. The market for tallow was on a par with the last sale.

Quotations: —Wool: Crossbred, 8d to 8&d; dead, 6Jd to 7fd; crutchings, 6d to 6|d; locks and pieces, 4d to s£d. Sheepskins: Fine, first, B£d to 9d; fine hoggets, B£d to B|d; hoggets, 8d to Bfd; three-quarter-full wools, B£d to 9d; \-\ wools, 7|d to Bfd; crossbred damaged, 6d to 7£d; dead, 6£d to 7d. Hides: Ox heavy, s|d to 6£d; light, 5d to 6d; cow, heavy, s£d to 5Jd; medium. s£d to s|d; light, 5Jd to sfd; yearlings, 7id to B£d; calf light first, 10£ dto lid; light second, 9d to 10£ d; cut, B|d to 9£d. Tallow. —In drums, first, 13s 6d to I4s 6d a cwt. In tins, first, 7s to 9s 6d.
