In the presence of a large congregation, the Rev. Alan A. Brash was ordained at Wanganui on Thursday night as a Presbyterian Minister of New Zealand, and inducted as minister of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Cljuxch, by the Rev. John Hubbard, of Palmerston North, and Moderator of the Wanganui Presbytery, assisted by the Rev. L. H. Kerr, of Gonville.
The death occurred at Wellington recently of Mr. T. H. Gillings, an employee of the Harbour Board. The late Mr. Gillings was born in Nova Scotia,
the son of the late Instructor W. J. Gillings, -of the Royal Canadian Engineers. In his young days he travelled extensively in the north-west of Canada, exploring and prospecting along the Fraser River. He canurto New Zealand about twenty years agp, and resided in Wellington up to th« time of his death. He is survived by his widow and a son, T. C. Gillings.
Mr. R. W. Watson, former engineer to the Durban Borough Council, is returning to Wellington tomorrow by the Wanganella. . He is accompanied by Mrs. Watson.
Mr. E. M. Hulse (son of Mrs. R. Hulse, of The Terrace, Wellington) and Mr. J. A.-'Lattimer (Lepperton, New ' Plymouth), who came to join the Royal • Air Force, have been posted to No. 4 • Elementary and Reserve Flying Training School at Brough, East Yorkshire; says the London correspondent of "The Post." At the termination of their course there they will go to Uxbrldge. They were among the batch of young New Zealanders whd arrived in England,by the Rangitata, and experienced a very pleasant voyage.
Captain L. W. Andrew, V,C, New Zealand Staff Corps, has relinquished the appointment of adjutant, Second Field Ambulance, and Adjutant, First Battalion, the Wellington Regiment, and has been appointed assistant adjutant and Quartermaster-General, Central Military District.
Mr. G. G. Chisholm, registrar of th« Supreme Court and clerk of the Magi* trate's Court at Napier, who has been authorised to exercise temporary jurisdiction as a Magistrate until the end of November, is relieving at Christ? church during the absence of Mr. H^ A. Young, S.M., as chairman of-iht Post and Telegraph Appeal Board.
