INDESCRIBABLY CRUEL
WAR METHODS
N.Z. DOCTORS' OBSERVA-
TIONS
(Received October 22, 11.20 a.m.)
SYDNEY, This Day,
Drs. R. B. Grey, of Auckland, and H. C. Tremewan, of Wellington, who together volunteered for service with the International Red Cross, arrived in Sydney after working in the war zone in China for eight months.
They stated that the war' was being carried on along indescribably cruel lines. There was no evidence, however, of poison gas being used. Dr. Grey said: "We had clear evidence on more than one occasion that the Japanese did not hesitate to bomb hospitals. The most heart-breaking ■cases were those of mothers and young children who were wounded in air raids. Some of the injuries were shocking."
