SOCCER

A SUCCESSFUL TEAM

The senior Soccer team of the Hutt Valley Memorial Technical College, playing recently in the final of the fifth grade competition, suffered its first defeat in the period of two years, being beaten by Wellington Technical College A team, which it had defeated earlier in the season. The Hutt Valley team was weakened by the absence of R. Singer, who had not recovered from an injury he sustained during the Australian tour; and of players suffering from measles.

Referring to the play of Singer, the co-manager of the New Zealand secondary school's team on the Australian tour gives a glowing account of this lad's play until the fourth match, when "ie was injured, stating that Singer was one of the outstanding players and would probably have played in all the matches but for his injury.
