Marsden School O.G.A,
The Marsden School Old Girls' Association wishes, to remind all old girls that the diamond jubilee celebrations will be held at the school from.Friday next to the following Tuesday, inclusive. It is hoped that as many old girls as possible will attend. Lady Galway To Officiate. Her Excellency Viscountess Galway will open the annual sale of work or-1 ganised by the Ladies' Guild of St. Paul's parish, on Wednesday, at 2.30 p.m. Guild members have been sewing busily for some time, and preparations for the sale have been in progress for the greater part of the year. The many stalls consequently will of-1 fer a large and stock of useful arid attractive articles, and with Christmas near at hand, the goods should' find a ready sale. It is hoped that the sale will be well patronised. Institute Birthday. The Reikorangi-Waikanae Women's Institute recently held its ninth birthday at Reikorangi. Mrs. G. A. Monk presided. There was a good attendance of members and visitors,, and a very pleasant afternoon was enjoyed by all. The Reikorangi school children, under the guidance of Mrs. Haggo, gave a very excellent hour's entertainment of songs, dances, recitations, and plays. Mrs. Wootten, after proposing a hearty vote of thanks to Mrs. Haggo, presented her with a ball of flowers suspended from matching ribbons, the work of Mrs. Hardie. Miss Heffer also rendered some songs, whiom were much enjoyed. After a dainty afternoon tea, the iced birthday cake was cut by Mesdames T. Brown and, G. A. Monk, the oldest foundation' members present. Birthday wishes and bouquets were presented to the president by sister institutes. "Auld Lang Syne" and the National Anthem were sung. "Le Groupe Francais." Another enjoyable evening of "Le Groupe Francais" was held at the, Y.W.C.A. last Wednesday. After the singing of "The Marseillaise" and several French songs, a most interesting and instructive talk on the life and works of Andre Maurois was given by the club's leader, Madame Finlayson. A short play was read by the members, followed by a recitation of the poem "Le Vent" by Miss M. Easther. All present then took part in French action songs and charades. Supper concluded a most enjoyable evening. Among those present were Mesdames Finlayson and Logre, Miss M. E. Bennell, and Misses V. Vercoe, M. Wallace, P. Connor, P. Hills, M. Easter, J. Edwards, J. Isaacs, and J. Turnpenny. ,' -
