"The Amazing Dr. Clitterhouse," which is now being presented in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall.by the Wellington Repertory Theatre, can best be described as a psychological mystery play, in which suspense and excitement are made full use of in building up an atmosphere of tension. The author, Barre Lyndon, has achieved an effect of brilliant highlights and impressive shadows without using the customary horror motif. The true calibre of the mysterious Clitterhouse is known from the outset, but the audience is kept in suspense as his strange motives lead him on in a career, of crime which must ultimately destroy the keen brain which controls it. His extraordinary reason for his - conduct is to provide a living subject ior studying the problems of the result of criminal actions on the physical and mental make-up of the person concerned, and he himself is the subject. Scenes include such varying surroundings as a low London club, city flats, and a very impressive roof-top scene. Dr. Clitterhouse is played by George Cooper, Nurse Ann by Irene Spidy, DetectiveInspector Charles by Leonard Walker, Benny Kellerman by Evan Harrowell, and Daisy by Constance Scott, The others in the cast include H.
